Steve Rubel had tracked down a list of the top 100 factors that affect page ranks. Some of these are blatantly obvious like having your keywords in your domain name and meta tags, but other less obvious ones like putting your keywords in bold and the font size of keywords. Worth checking out as we all forgot the rules in the heat (haste!) of writing new posts!
